Classic TX4 or Electric LEVC?

Both formats run on both vehicles, so the choice is about character, presence and budget. Here is what separates the Classic TX4 from the Electric LEVC, and how to decide.

The Classic TX4: heritage and recognition.

The Classic TX4 is the traditional London black cab. It is instantly recognisable and heritage-led: an iconic London advertising canvas. If the brief leans on London heritage and familiarity, the Classic TX4 is often the stronger fit.

The Electric LEVC: presence and a modern fleet.

The Electric LEVC is the newer electric London taxi. It is slightly larger and contemporary, with greater physical presence and a modern fleet association. If the campaign is about something new, or the brand sits naturally with a contemporary look, it is worth considering.

The price difference.

Entry prices are higher on the Electric LEVC. A full wrap starts at £3,750 on the Classic TX4 and £4,750 on the Electric LEVC: £1,000 more at entry level, for one taxi. Supersides start at £4,750 and £7,500 respectively, in total for ten taxis: £2,750 more for the ten-taxi minimum.

Everything else in the price is the same on both: production, printing, installation, tip-seat advertising at no additional media charge, standard launch photography and a post-campaign report. See taxi advertising costs.

How to choose.

Neither vehicle is the better choice in general. Three questions help:

  • What should the campaign feel like? Heritage and familiarity often suit the Classic TX4; a contemporary feel may suit the Electric LEVC.
  • How much presence does it need? The Electric LEVC is slightly larger, with greater physical presence on the street.
  • What does the budget allow? At entry level the Classic TX4 costs less in both formats.
